Finding a decent lip liner can take a lifetime. And for many women, when they find the one they like, they actually do stick with it for life. But here at Consumers Guides, we work to save you that trouble. That’s why we’ve assembled some of the best selling and most popular lip liners and put them to the test, to find out which ones stood out above the pack. If you’ve been searching for your perfect lip liner, take a look at our picks for the Top5 Best Lip Liners below:
Our top choice: Lancome Le Lipstique – LipColouring Stick with Brush
The Lancome Le Lipstique out tested all of the other liners we tried. Lancome has an established reputation for making high end cosmetics for decades, and they continue to produce quality products. The Le Lipstique had a creamy texture, went on smoothly, and had excellent color and durability. Not only that, but the Lancome stick has an attached brush which was perfect for blending. We appreciated the natural color of the lip liner and felt that it could be appropriate for light or dark skin tones. After many cups of coffee, the liner stayed strong. The price was a bit steep, at over $25, but we felt that the superior texture and durability made it worth the extra cost. This was the smoothest, easiest to apply liner of everything we’ve tested. If you are tired of dry liners that are difficult to blend, this is a perfect choice for you.
Our #2 choice: Dolce & Gabbana Precision Lipliner
A very high quality lip liner that went on smooth and had decent durability. This product was one of the most expensive that we tested, but we felt that the quality was high enough to merit the extra price. The Dolce and Gabanna brand is better known as a fashion company, but they are quickly establishing themselves as one of the top make up companies as well. We liked that this lip liner helped define without over defining. It was fairly easy to blend, but was not as creamy as the Lancome product we tested. The higher cost and texture made this our second best lip liner from everything we tested.
#3 Dior Rougeliner Automatic Lip Liner
We liked the Dior Rougeliner because it featured a precision tip that allowed for better control than most of the other liners we tested. By twisting the pencil, we were able to adjust the sharpness of the stile, which was a wonderful feature as we are used to having to constantly sharpen our lip liners. One of the main drawbacks we found with this lip liner was the small size, it only comes in a .04 ounce package. Since it retails for 29.00, it means the Dior product is not as good of a value as many of the other products we tested. However, it’s superior texture, smooth-gliding application, and no feathering. The other major drawback we found with the Dior Rougeliner was some minor clumping when applied with certain lipsticks.
#4 Bobbi Brown Lip Liner
A soft and smooth liner that went on easily and lasted for several hours. This liner comes with a sharpener, so you can be sure it is always ready to use, but some of the other liners that tested higher never actually need to be sharpened. The Bobbi Brown lip liner did not bleed and had a very natural look that blended well with our lipsticks. Bobbi Brown has an entire line of very natural colors that are perfect for women with more unique skin tones. If you are exceptionally pale or dark, they might have a color better suited for you than some other companies. Overall, this was a decent lip liner with a smooth texture, but didn’t outlast some of the other products we tried.
#5 Laura Mercier Lip Pencil
The Laura Mercier Lip Pencil was one of the best products we tried with a smooth, yet firm application and great blend-ability. We also appreciated the metal cap, which helped to preserve the tip of the pencil. Unfortunately, this pencil did not include a sharpener like the Bobbi Brown product, and still required maintenance to function perfectly, so that was a drawback when compared to the products that don’t require sharpening or have on included.
